Math Advising FAQ Q: I am a new Math major. How do I get a math advisor? A: Each major is assigned a faculty advisor. You will receive a welcome email from the Undergraduate Director telling you who your advisor is and how to contact him or her. Your welcome letter will also describe the registration procedures in the Mathematics Department. These emails are sent out twice a year, once early in the fall term, and again early in the spring term. Until you are assigned an advisor, you may consider Professor Beatrous to be your temporary math advisor. Q: Can I register with the Math Department if I have not yet been assigned a math advisor? A: No. If you do not declare your major by a deadline set by the School of Arts and Sciences, then you will have one last registration with the A&S Advising Center.
